CCEDF awards prize for video

The Choctaw Plaindealer

The Choctaw County Economic Development Foundation recently awarded $100 to the Technology Applications class at the Choctaw County Career and Technology Center.

This past spring the CCEDF held a contest for the high schools to create a video to promote equality of life in Choctaw County.

Alan Bates, executive director of the CCEDF, said the contest was held to see the students' perspective of Choctaw County and to give them a chance to be involved in the Foundation.

The Technology Applications class in the CCC&TC was the only group to take on the challenge. Sunja Douglas, Tech. Applications instructor, said the students drove around Choctaw County taking pictures and collecting information. A few of aspects shown in the video were the history of Choctaw County, pictures of the French Camp Museum and the Ackerman Walking Park.

Once the information was gathered, the challenge was to create the 30-second video and music.

Douglas said three students-Hannah McCullouch, Lynlee Anderson, Lenitra Ashford, were instrumental in putting the video together with the help of the whole Technology Applications class.

Some of the skills the students used in creating the video were problem-solving skills, technical skills multimedia skills.

Douglas said during the video project her students learned the "perks about the county" and not to take what you have for granted. She said the students' creativity was beyond what she expected for the project.
