The Weir Lady Lions are looking at a very strong softball season after beating French Camp 13-5 as it prepares to wrap up the season.
The Weir Lady Lions will face Ethel for the opportunity at the 1A district title.
In the Monday matchup against French Camp, the Weir Lady Lions came out swinging. Both teams put 2 points onto the board in the first inning. But, the Weir Lady Lions broke away in the second inning adding 3 unanswered points to the scoreboard. The Weir Lady Lions with Krystal Gibbs pitching were able to keep the French Camp Lady Panthers off homeplate until the seventh inning while the Weir Lady Lions tagged up at home in all but the fifth inning.
The Weir Lady Lions added a scored run in both the third and fourth inning and added three more in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning both teams got hitting fever to gain 3 points a piece but the Weir Lady Lions wrapped up the outs to keep the Lady Panthers from rallying.
Krystal Gibbs earned winning pitcher.
In a previous matchup with French Camp, the Lady Panthers had earned the win 5-3.
