The Weir Lions(1A)will be looking to host Durant(1A)this Friday night after beating a strong opponent of Ray Brooks 22-12 this past Friday night.
The 7-0 Weir Lions continued their perfect record from last season with an impressive win over Ray Brooks (5-1)during a dreary rain Friday night.
Weir's first strike came in the first quarter when Jermaine Woodard run in from 12 yards out to put the first touchdown on the board. The PAT missed.
Ray Brooks answered Weir's touchdown with a touchdown of their own as Brook's Travis McGee returned the kickoff for 85 yards but failed on the two-point conversion.
Weir's offense went into high gear and Kaylen Hester added another 6 points from a Jermaine Woodard pass, yet Weir could not find the redzone on the two-point conversion.
As the second quarter began, Weir lead 12-6 but Ray Brooks was not finished battling back. Brooks scored on a 30 yard run giving Weir its toughest game yet as the teams head in at halftime tied 12-12.
The Weir Lions' defense roared into the second half closing down the Brook's offense. The Weir offense appeared to struggle yet Jonathan Beard in the third quarter was able to pull out the lead for the Lions on a 24-yard field goal.
Both teams kept up the defensive matchup until Weir broke loose on a strong offensive drive moving downfield and scoring on a one yard run by Woodard and Beard adding the PAT. The Lions finished up the night with the 22-12 win.
