Tri-county pageant set

The Second Annual Miss and Mr. Tri County Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 6 p.m. from the Winston County Shrine Club on Hwy. 15 in Louisville. The pageant is open to boys ages 0-11 and girls ages 0-Mrs. Girls ages 0-11 Sunday or Easter attire and girls 12 and over pageant gowns. Boys may wear Sunday attire. No pageant experience is necessary this is a great beginner pageant. This is an official preliminary pageant to the Miss Magnolia State Pageant to be held in Jackson on July 25, 2009 for ages 0-11 and November 21-22, 2009 for ages 12-up. We had several state winners from this pageant last year and numerous top ten winners! Door Prizes will be given away and tickets can be sold to cover entry fees. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance and concessions will be available.

DAR to meet

Old Choctaw County Chapter of National Society Daughters of American Revolution will hold its March 14 meeting at 1:30 in the meeting room at the Webster County Public Library and the public is invited to attend. Lt. Col. Michael Nabors, Air Operations Officer of the 186th Air Refueling Wing at Key Field in Meridian, MS will be the guest speaker in conjunction with the National Defense Program.

Free blood sugar screenings March 16

To promote diabetes awareness during Diabetes Discovery Week, free blood sugar screenings will be offered by the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, March 16 from

Angel Food Ministries March 11-14

Maben Word of Life Church of God Angel Food Ministries are taking orders for the month of March. Ordering hours for the month of March are March 11 -13 from 10 AM to 4 PM; March 14- 9 AM to Noon. The church is located at 3965 Crowley Dr. Maben. For more information call 275-0245.

Southern Gospel Singing March 14

Sherwood Community Center will host a Southern Gospel Singing Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m. The featured singers will be Joyful Noise of Greenwood, Bobby Hawkins of Hamilton, His Majesty of Winona, and The Crouchs of Winona,. Everyone is invited to come join us for a great night of southern gospel music, food and fellowship. Concessions will be available. Revival at Salem Independent March 8-12

Come and hear Rev. Hal Daigre, of 1st Independent Methodist Church of Decatur, AL. Born and raised in Mississippi Rev. Daigre is a highly sought after evangelist who has preached in many churches in the southeast, Midwest and northern stat and even Ecuador of South America. The Soul Clinic Revival will be held March 11-13 at the New Direction Center, located at 36 O'Kelly Drive, Weir. Services will be held at 7 p.m. daily. The evangelist will be Leslie C. Fleming of French Camp. All is invited.

Children invited to Center March 16-20

All children are invited to the New Direction Center, located at 36 O'Kelly Drive, Weir for fun, food, music and ministry on March 16-20 from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Bro. and Sis. Gavin of Columbus will bring the ministry each day from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. and Bro. and Sis. Davis of Kilmichael will teach music. Children may be dropped off from 8:30 a.m.-9 a.m. and picked up at 3 p.m. Parents are invited to attend Friday, March 20.

Full Circle Knit/ Crochet Club March 17

If you like to knit or crochet or would like to learn, we invite you to attend our meeting every Tuesday from 9-noon a.m. at the Choctaw County Extension Office. There is no cost to join. Each person will be responsible for supplying his/her own yarns and needles.

The CCED will hold their meeting March 21 at 10 a.m. at their location in Weir. Please try to make plans to attend.

CCHGS to meet March 23

On Monday, March 23, the Choctaw County Historical and Genealogical Society (CCHGS) will hold its monthly meeting, at noon, at the Choctaw County Library in Ackerman. Members Mildred Grissom and niece Glenda Whittington are in charge of this month's program.

Anyone with an interest in area families or local history are invited to attend this monthly meeting.

Democratic committee to meet March 26

The Choctaw County Democratic Executive Committee will meet March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library. Anyone interested in helping local Democrats work towards the best of interests for everyone in Choctaw County is encouraged to attend.
