ServSafe Class To Be Offered

The Choctaw County Extension Service will be offering an official food safety certification course, May 28, 29, and 30, 2003, at in Ackerman. The ServSafe classes will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Extension Service's ServSafe class is 16-hours and fulfills the requirements of the State Department of Health for food service licensure. Participants are expected to have read and studied their book before they come to class. For this reason, you need to register for the as soon as possible so materials can be ordered. Participants must be present for the entire 16 hours and make a minimum score of 75 on the NRA final exam to be certified. There is a fee for this class and the registration fee is non-refundable. To register contact the MSU-Extension Service Choctaw County office in the Courthouse Annex in Ackerman. Fees must be paid with a certified check or money order made payable to MSU-Extension Service. The Extension office is open from 8:00 a.m.-12 noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patty Draper, Extension County Director, stated that this will be the only class taught in Choctaw County in 2003 and that persons that were certified at the beginning of the certification process in 1998 will need a class within the year to maintain their certification. These classes are limited to 25 participants and registration will close when this number is reached and no registrations will be taken after May 19th.
