Candidates for municipal elections may begin qualifying for the 2005 elections according to the Mississippi Secretary of State's office.

In the city elections, all alderman seats, and the Mayor's post position will be on the June 7 General Election ballot.

The winners of the June election will take office July 4.

Candidates seeking to qualify for the election must file a qualifying fee and statement of intent or petition if qualifying as an independent candidate with the city clerk by 5 p.m. on March 4. To file as an independent candidate a petition with at least 50 qualified voters of the city or ward which ever is applicable must be filed with the city clerk.

Voters have until April 2 to register to vote for the first primary. May 7 at noon is the last day voters may register to vote in the June 7 general election.
