From staff reports
The Homestead Task Force met at Pap's Restaurant in Ackerman Tuesday, January 18 at noon to discuss their project of a Children's Health Fair to be held in Ackerman on April 8, 2005.
The purpose for this health fair is to teach children how they can better take care of their health and the need to start now practicing a healthier life style. They hope to have representatives from hospitals to check blood pressures; fire department members to teach fire safety, 4-County representatives to discuss electrical safety procedures and other matters.
The Project Homestead program is a statewide initiative to partnership with communities to help families with special needs, such as abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The Task Force can provide families with information and advice of where and how they can receive help with each individual problem.
Project Homestead members are discussing the formation of a military support group to aid families of soldiers that have been deployed overseas.
Project Homestead would love to see their Task Force grow in attendance.
If you are interesting in becoming a member or would like more information you may attend the meetings held each 3rd Tuesday at noon at Pap's Place in Ackerman or call Mrs. Linda White, Project Homestead Taskforce Coordinator, at 662-320-4607.
