The Ackerman Indians will aim for the win against Water Valley this Thursday night.
The Ackerman Indians need the win to go for a 5-5 season record. Water Valley is 2-7 and is coming off a loss to J.Z. George.
Ackerman is coming off a 50 to 19 over 2A rival Williams Sullivan who ended the game 0-9 on the season.
The first quarter gave the impression of a close ball game with both teams hauling in to touchdowns in the first quarter but Williams Sullivan could not add the two point conversions in either instance.
Williams-Sullivan came out scoring with a James Griffin 22 yard touchdown from Jevonte Walden pass.
Williams-Sullivan's Desmond Haymon scored off a 55 yard pass from Jevonte Walden;
Ackerman scored its first quarter scores with Derek Cutts scoring on a 3 yard pass from Andrew Furr after a strong drive down field. Ackerman second score in the first quarter was on a Josh Brown interception which he returned of a 12 yard touchdown and the PAT by Scribner was good.
As timed wound down in the first Ackerman led 13-12 but it would be the second quarter where AHS would really close out the game.
While Williams-Sullivan scored in the second quarter on a 14-yard run by Jevonte Walden, Ackerman would score 24 points in the second quarter with Andrew Furr scoring on a 40 yard run with Pat Scribner adding the PAT.
Ackerman's Shawn Stricklin would score on a 34 yard run with Scribner adding the PAT.
Stricklin would add another touchdown on a 42 yard pass reception from Furr with Scribner adding the PAT.
Ackerman's Scribner would also add a field goal score from 23 yard out giving the Indians a 37-18 lead as halftime arrived.
Ackerman's defense completely closed down Williams Sullivan in the final two quarters and the AHS offense would add one touchdown per quarter with Johnny Bryant scoring on 5 yard pass from Andrew Furr in the third quarter and Scribner scoring on a 37 yard run in the fourth quarter.
