Part of being a town clerk is being a liaison between the people of the town and the Board of Aldermen. Some of the responsibilities are setting the aldermen's agenda, taking minutes of meetings and serving the town.

Deborah Cagle Boley is now the Town of Ackerman's town clerk, due to the retirement of Bobbye Webb.

Boley is ready to become the Town clerk and serve the people of the Town of Ackerman.

"I'm very excited about the position. I look forward to serving the Town for many years," said Boley.

In the July 1 Board of Aldermen meeting, the board named her Town clerk and held an executive session to discuss her compensation.

Boley is not new to the Town clerk position. She has served as the Town's deputy town clerk for almost one year and is working toward her certification as Town clerk.

She also brings more than 20 years experience of extensive budget, bookingkeeping and much more to the job.

"I am a registered voter of Choctaw County and reside within the city limits of Ackerman. I wholeheartedly support our county and municipal candidates and have a genuine interest in the community," said Boley.

Mayor Dick Cain said he is proud of Boley and looks forward to working with her as town clerk.

"Look forward to working with her. I'm sure she will do a wonderful and outstanding job. I have confidence in her ability as Town clerk."
