Funeral services for Mr. Joe Fred Brooks, 77, were held at 2 p.m., January 15, 2010 at Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston. Bro. Danny Irvin, Bro. Wade Stephens and Bro. Mike Fondren officiated. Burial followed in Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston.

A resident of Mathiston, Mr. Brooks was a logger. He was also a member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston, a member of the Bulldog Club and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Brooks was a former supervisor of Choctaw County. Mr. Brooks died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Carthage.

Survivors include sons William Michael Brooks of Starkville, Johnny Brooks, Tommy Brooks, James Hester Brooks, all of Mathiston, sisters Merle McMinn of Mathiston, Maurine Langley of Starkville and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Edd Rogers, Hugh Langley, Chris Crowley, Walter Shuffield, Johnny Black and Cliff Crowley. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Lantrip, Jimmy Perkins, Curtis Davis, William Sykes and Sunset Lofton.

Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.
